People in general always need something to believe in, i think they're frightened of the alternative
I think they were designed as a way to explain the unexplainable and later got used to control the masses. All of the peasants and servants dreaming of being repaid in heaven while they lived in poverty and helped line the pockets of the big bosses :mjcry:

Science is backed by a lot of theories as well.
Because we don't have the means or capacity to understand everything. Scientific theories are backed up by tested observations. Early observations suggested that the sun revolved around the earth. This could be tested and observed every day. Once humans had more information and a better frame of reference, they realized that we were revolving around the sun.

And yet....we still have theories. That's not the only one lol. You can't really test Darwinism.

He was being sarcastic. You got G6d homie.

Besides the point that if there was a fiery hell, God would be the one who made it in the first place...:francis:

In the Bible, the apostles and disciples, as well as non-believers, witnessed Jesus' miracles. Some of them were even granted the ability to perform miracles themselves. Peter walked on water and there were many witnesses to Lazarus' resurrection.

So obviously, according to your logic, they would no longer require faith or Jesus' sacrifice since they saw the miracles firsthand.

So they have no way to be cleansed and are doomed to hellfire.

Are you saying that God doesn't perform miracles because he doesn't want us modern folks to be doomed...but he had no problem dooming countless people back then by performing miracles?

:francis:

He's right you know,
:manny:
but I can roll with it.

The People who witnessed the miracles are not judged by faith, they're judged by their works. That is the general rule. Unless, of course, God is specifically putting them through a test of faith. (e.g Job and Lot)

Judgment by works was the standard of the pre-christ era of the old testament. In the post-christ era, that standard is applied to people who never got a chance to hear the gospel. An example of that being the Native Americans.

However, in 2016, nearly no one can claim that they haven't been exposed to Christianity in some way or form. Especially since, logically, asking them if they've been exposed to Christianity would be exposing them to Christianity.

actually, the native americans were exposed to the gospels ever since the european man showed up on their land.
post christ 1400 years.
just saying.

the book or mormon was specifically written to big up the native americans into the lineage of christ
