IF they win, is this the best Florida State team ever?

I'm talking with a couple of FSU grads at work and we got into a conversation about where this FSU squad ranks all-time, against all other great teams. I said that 2001 Miami, 95 Nebraska, 04 USC, etc etc would like to have a word with them.

I also said that this would probably be a top-3 FSU all-time team, but there were a few that I felt were better, namely 99 FSU.

However, they did bring up some good points.
-This team is 28 points away from setting an FBS scoring record
-They could have their RB and top 3 WR all pass 1000 yards this game
-Their margin of victory is ridiculous.


Without getting ahead of ourselves, let's just say talent vs talent, and what you've seen thus far...

When it's all said and done, where would you put this FSU team? Vs all other FSU teams? Vs all teams?

If they win decisively tonight, this is one of the best teams ever, period.

- They'll likely go down as scoring more points than any other team in the history of college football despite not playing an up tempo style. That's crazy.

- All 11 offensive starters will be playing in the NFL.

- They have the best and most talented defense in the country.

They're not only one of the most talented teams ever on paper, but they've also gone out there and beat every single opponent by a ridiculous margin. Up until now, they haven't even had that close game scare that most great teams have throughout the season. Easily the most stress-free football season I've had as a fan, all the games were basically wrapped up by the end of the 3rd quarter.

they'd be up there for sure. that squad with Warrick/Coles etc was beastly but this team is better. they've had no close calls at all. I'd have too compare the ACC then with the ACC now

They haven't played anyone except clemson. When they came to the swamp we held them to their lowest point total in the season and it took them until late in the second quarter to really seize control of the game when our offense went into the tank.

they're very good but all time best i have to pause on that.

01 Miami scared me, i don't have that kind of fear with this team

You could go back and hand pick a few Florida, Miami, and FSU teams from the 80s-00s and make the case for a few of them beating 13 FSU.

HOWEVER, they've been pulling starters and more or less cruising through this season. They are very much business every single week, and that's the mark of a championship team. They go out there and submit opponents. Fairly quickly as well. It's very impressive.

2001 Miami was as talented as any team ever, but their dominance is overrated. It took a fluke INT for them to dodge an upset vs Boston College and they squeaked by Virginia Tech.

That 95 Nebraska team was a fukkin buzzsaw though still think we could beat them in a title game if we had a month to prepare for that explosive offense.
