That cage is too small for the dog.

We keep our dog fenced in the kitchen so it has room to roam. Of course the dog is an 18-lb Chihuahua/Schnauzer so it can't really do any damage (climbing on counters etc.)

Bigger cage, better cage plus a LOT of exercise. Tie that dog to you and your bike and make his azz run until he wants to tap out. Dogs need work, especially bigger dogs like that.

Dog isnt even crate trained and you want to use this as an "example".

You cant put a dog thats never been in a crate, into a crate and expect to act "ok".

Thats like YOU being a grown man going to jail for the first time, and being sent to solitary confinement for something you didnt do.
