If time travel was possible. Would humanity better or worse?

Theres no clear point of origin anyway. [To the latter]

I lean more towards probabilities than definites. [To the former]

These two paradoxes usually assume a very linear and defined framework of universal variables. And that's fine. :manny:

There's no way to test for 'Alternative Timelines', so, assuming 'time' is linear matches our experience in 'reality' UNLESS you assume Schrodinger's Cat explains 'reality'.

I hate Schrodingers cat :scust: if a tree falls its makes a noise regardless if there is an observer to the tree falling.

I'd rather just say I am not aware of a way to currently test for alternate timelines. :hubie:

Closest we've come so far ........

The same species that created nuclear bombs and genocides people for being a different color, religion or sex from them.

It would be utter chaos.

@Dafunkdoc_Unlimited

Let's say I time travel back to 2010

My current timeline has me time traveling back to a timeline that is presently in the year 2010

There now may or may not be two "mes" in 2010 and 0 in the timeline that is currently 2022 because I left it in the time traveling machine.

If I kill the me that I encounter in 2010, I am still in existence in the timeline that is 2022 because the me that time traveled is still alive in 2010 whereas the one I killed hadn't yet reached 2022 in that timeline to time travel.

The question would then be if I time traveled to 2022 would I be in the same 2022 that I previously left or am I in an alternate timeline that happens to be in 2022. Can the time machine pause time? Unlikely. Be tethered to the dimension your corporeal body inhabited? Unclear. Regardless, theres nothing mandating that the person in 2010 I killed was myself therefore I would poof into non existence

If we all had that ability, time would cease to exist right? We would all have our own timeline. Which would basically become our own world, which is what they are trying to create in the metaverse so we don't overpopulated the planet :ohhh:

Interesting, I looked into the double slit many years ago

Made me think of a mathematical system that implies an invisible variable to every counting number [that is usually assumed to be 1 but may not always be 1]

As in 1 + 1 is almost always 2 but not if the invisible variables are 1x and 1y rather than 1x and 1x where X =1 and Y=/=1

Edit to add: so essentially every number has an infinite accompanying invisible variable count

Governments and powers at large would exercise even more discretion with time machines than bombs

There are likely sensors and satellites that track possible energy signals that would tip off a time machine and would be tracked down and seized immediately before a random could actually utilize it

Humans rarely gain the ability to do things once thought impossible and use it for good. It's always some selfish or self serving thing that comes out of it. It's human nature

The most altruistic thing I can think of is that that's why governments are only paying lip service to climate change. They got time machines in the back pocket to just erase mistakes and pretend it never happened

They'll use it to figure out a way to prove it and tax citizens. It's never about saving the earth. It'll be about profit

If you think time machines won't be used to try to take over the world I've got a bridge in Brooklyn I'm selling for the low
