Republicans(even mainstream) have been catering to Evangelicals since the Regan days. Trump hasn't stood up for Evangelicals more than any other candidate before him. It's is brashness towards those whom white Conservatives fear, is what has gotten Trump so popular amongst Whites.

Thats why they swarm elections like cockroaches and vote with such vigor. They constantly watch fox news to see which candidate to support who is most likely to implement economic policies that'll destroy minorities communities. They will trample on the constitution that they worship because the constitution prevents things that they desperately want like a Muslim ban or silencing the press.
