it is clearly worse than it used to be. it used to be a free unlimited website that you could scroll freely without being told you’ve used up too much data.
now it isn’t, which has fukked up the flow of information for regular non-political news. it had fukked up things for breaking news on emergency weather reporting, sports reporting etc
all because this dumb mf Elon is too cheap to pay his bill and ran off all his sponsors/advertisers with his little edge lord algorithm and pay to win verification model just to impress his little basement dwelling 4ch*n slurpers, so now the company is desperate for money and also can’t pay their old bills that kept the shyt running smoothly at that same time.

My whole thing reading this thread is why do we NEED real time updates on life?
The only real time updates on life that's critical is ur own well being...I don't need updates on what's going on in my country, my state, my county, my block like that.
The instant gratification era which is now will lead to huge changes in the world 20-30 yrs from now...don't wanna sound like a ol head but probably not for the better.

his other ventures are run in the same way, it's just that twitter is a SAAS and he can make changes much more quickly than he could to his other companies physical offerings. twitter has basically become a live beta site since there probably isn't a QA team anymore.
when in human history have people not demanded information as soon as they could possibly get it? i mean just thinking about the telegraph blows my mind cause they literally laid cables in the ocean in 1858 to communicate faster and we still do the same thing with fiber cable for internet connections.
you and many others may not care for real-time information but plenty of other people see value in it. people use to think cell phones were unncessary because who needs a phone all the time, now theres barely any payphones to be found because people have their own personal phone to communicate for real-time updates.
humans will always push the boundaries of communication and facilitating it as fast as possible.
If you think Twitter is a terrible app then you're just sensitive and don't know how to use it properly.
Don't want to see certain topics or people on your feed? That's what the filter and block option is for.
Other than that, I don't see how anyone can complain about it unless you're just a miserable person. It's the biggest social media platform for a reason.

TikTok has 1 billion active monthly users.
Twitter got ~300 million active monthly users. Which means 7.7 billion people out there ain't even reading twitter.
That gap is probably increased further by Twitter's recent decisions.
This is seriously stupid and I don't even use Twitter. Not everyone on the planet lives the same life as you, as you scroll up and see there are people in war torn countries who need updates, you want real time updates during disasters to see who is alive and what the situation on the ground looks like. And lastly, time and time again we see how authorities spin the narrative when they get the chance to craft it. Real time news is one counter to that. You have to learn to see the world outside of yourself and what you personally are doing.
I forgot about tiktok but ok.
However, twitter and tiktok are both very different I think (?) as far as how content is pushed out. I don't know if tiktok is strictly video based.

The thing to remember is that 300 million people on Twitter means that there are 7.7 billion people who aren't using it.
So for some people to say Twitter is an accurate representation of what's going on or how the world is thinking is a little misleading.
At the end of the day, It's survivorship bias: many people of those 300 million are people desperate for attention, so when you read twitter you got to approach it with the caution that you're about to read content from people who are freaking out or want to get your attention rather than thinking it's accurate information from people who are level-headed. A lot of those people posting on that site like to wade in negativity.
For example, think of the smart people at work or that person who is successful and in a happy family. They're not on Twitter. There's no reason for them to be.
If you want posts from those types of people and to really stay with the real latest news from people who don't want to damage their reputation then the best site is Linkedin. In fact, many of the breakthroughs and innovations are posted on Linkedin first because people who have legit, verified skills are trying to connect professionally to work on interesting problems. The real life credentials are there to verify. Those reports people make on twitter and reddit are old news compared to Linkedin, who are already working on the next wave.
In comparison, Twitter is more full of people who talk a big game and shyt post, but that's all they do because it's 300 million (somewhat mentally unstable) people looking for attention. Twitter is buzzword-central from people who don't really know what they're talking about compared to Linkedin. Most of Twitter's traffic is he-said, she-said, most of Linkedin's activity are people discussing real shyt from verified sources because their reputation and consequently their way of life are on the line.
