Its funny.... my parents and their generation are very uptight and not affectionate at all. So it fukks em up. A lot of alcoholism and psychological abuse. All my black immigrant friends of this generation- Africans and Caribbeans- we all have no problems telling each other or our kids we love each other. Because we have seen first hand how damaging holding shyt in and trying to fit a role is. You see a lot of it here, and it's sad.

Like I said I agree that shyt can go too far, and it often does. I think a lot of people here who really go hard on that negativity shyt are coming from a place of pain. Even when you try to genuinely connect with them, they snap back. They are like abused dogs. But I think shyt like playing basketball or wanting to be the best rapper on a song or some other kind of productive competition is OK. It's not wrong to want to be the best at something, until you decide that you have to put others down to get there.
