If we're keeping it 100, people expect TOO MUCH out of a $60 video game

shyt is cheaper than it was in the s
Genesis/snes days.

This must be from one of those companies that went out of business companies overcharging people for electronics like Media Play?

I know my parents wouldn't have paid close to $100 for a game in the mid 90's and I had NBA Jam Tournament Edition on release date cause that was around my birth date. I'm wanting to say SNES games were $40 at that time.

I agree, compared to like every other form of entertainment (and I guess most consumer goods, in general), video games haven't risen in price in decades. Games should cost more :ld:

I'm glad they don't, but it probably should happen, if I'm being honest :ld:
Like lord Gaben stated before. The goal is to get as close to zero as possible.

Digital distribution should help keep things in the $50-$60 range for a while.

that price is to ensure some suit can keep making 7 figures, while devs get crumbs working 18hrs days
I first started my college career in Computer Science. Then I quickly realized coders have a boring as fukk job and work terrible hours. I wanted to program games, but finding a good video game programmer gig is as rare as winning the lotto. And then still, it's boring as shyt.

You do get paid well though, but it's not worth it to me :manny:

Isn't it $80 now a days?

depends where you live. top titles will be at like 79 plus tax bucks here in Canada. For me, it all depends on when I decide to buy it. I'll be hyped, but if I ain't putting the money towards it day 1, then it just isn't happening.

Rocket League is the only game that $60 was warranted for this gen so far, and it only cost me $20. Nothing else held my attention long enough for it to warrant the price tag

Its not all about the time you get out of it. Uncharted is like 15 hours, persona is like 100. But i feel they're both worth the price :manny:

Theres also games that arent worth the price and those are usualy ones that get shyt on regardless of how long they are

People expect a finished game, at the least. Now over the years, there have been some prerequisites, for a price increase;

Longer games
Better graphics, etc.

I should never pay for half completed games, or "beta test" titles that will leave me asking for a more polished sequel (I'm looking at you Watch Dogs/Horizon). Full price for a series that's bad or lack luster? Nah Squeenix can keep all future FF releases.

To be fair, Uncharted is an action oriented game, linear, but with non-stop action. Persona is a non linear RPG with sidequests...of course an RPG is going to be longer. But both are solid games, rich in story, gameplay and back drop.
