If you accept Scarface (1983) film for what it is, it’s a good movie at best

I recently rewatched Carlito’s Way.

Excellent film, with some great scenes. De Palma did an amazing job with the train station scene, as well as the early drug deal/pool hall scene.

Sean Penn is also terrific in it. He didn’t get an Oscar nomination, but the category was stacked.

Best Actor in a Supporting Role

The guy playing the mob boss was a gangster in real life

It's good movie for it's time, but if you dial down the plot...

Tony goes from dishwasher to kingpin in what feels like a weekend bender, fueled by rage and zero subtlety. He’s somehow rich enough to own a gold-plated tub but dumb enough to insult the cartel during a drug deal. The movie treats nuance like it's optional, and every twist is dialed to 11 for drama, not logic.

One of the craziest moments of my life was watching this film on vacation in Cuba. Surprised that shyt even aired, but it was a hotel resort.
