Google blooming onion bread.. I'm on mobile and far too lazy to quickly Google search an image and put it in between [/img]

Simple to make and you can always add shredded meat so it becomes becomes a meal instead of a snack..

I love cooking. I'm getting into baking out of scratch. I made some yams with palm oil and pepper soup for the fam yesterday night.

Pinterest and YouTube cook videos will help you a lot.

you should start making bread in general
french bread is soooo cheap and easy to make, it's ridiculous
Crusty French Bread Recipe - Food.com
that's all you need for two whole loaves of bread! :gladbron:

you can even have a constant flow of sourdough if you get in the habit of making starters

what kind of stuff do you like to eat/would want to cook on a consistent basis?

Start with simple cooking techniques. Don't go in trying to make a complicated meal. Learn the basics first.

Simple things like cutting your vegetables all the same size when you saute them so they all cook the same. If you're cooking meat invest in a thermometer. Cook to the right temp and you should be good. As for seasoning meat just pepper and salt till you are comfortable enough trying other spices. Or buy a good spice rub and use that.

Get yourself a crockpot. One of my favorite things I own. Look up crockpot recipes online and throw the ingredients all in the crockpot and let it cook all day while you are at work. Come home to dinner ready to eat.

I'm not an amazing cook. Nothing I posted is hard to make and all tastes really good.

Spaghetti, tilapia, and baked chicken :troll:

food network app.

epicurious app.

I would start thinking of the TV dinners you like and look up the recipes on how to make them yourself.

A basic meal is protien, a vegetable and a starch. Like if you get chicken breast, get rice/potatoes and green beans. That's a simple meal. A lot of spice sections now have combinations you can buy in packets if you aren't sure depending on the meat you have.

Youtube is your friend.

Baked chicken in an oven bag.

Clean the chicken: soak in a salt water solution to remove excess blood and remove any feathers or debris with a knife.

Add chicken 3-4 lbs bone in, olive oil, seasonings, shake to coat the chicken in seasonings, tie the bag up, place in a pan with the tied part sticking up, poke holes in the top of the bag and cook in the oven at at least 350 for 2 hours. Chicken should be juicy and falling off the bone and well seasoned.

Side dishes: steam in the bag vegetables.

Or salad.

It's good as a bytch, cheap and healthy and will be 2-4 meals for one.

I love cooking.

Start by getting a simple cookbook then work your way from there. Once you undersrand the basics you'll be able to play around with flavours.

Also, check to see if there's cooking classes in your area.

If you can read, then you can cook. The hardest part about cooking is actually not fukking yourself up with burns. As long as you use the general safety guidelines and good equipment, you should be ok. Start slow with breakfast food, then work your way up.

As for culinary thermometers...I never used those.. I trained my eyes, for example, what a medium well steak should look like and when it's needs to come off the grill or stove. I can do well done(without burning), medium, medium rare and rare as well. Once you've been cooking for a while, you'll get a feel for how long something takes.

Invest in pots and skillets (especially) with lids... Anything that cooks covered, cooks faster.
Buy oven mitts, unless you wanna use your dish or drying off towels(lol.)
Medium heat works for just about everything. It doesn't cook too slow or too fast; almost nothing boils over(milk will though) or scorches.

Hit me up if you need anymore advice. I have more than 10 years work experience with restaurants and have been cooking since my teens.
