it is the parents responsibilty. lol@18 being an adult.

now for me as a parent who is thinking about my sons future now( age 8 ). im gearing him towards getting scholarships for college. hence teaching computer programming and algebra now. the lazy parents can wait til their kid turn 18 and ask them what they want to do in life. not me, and yes my parents didnt save a dime and they had the money.

:whoa: I was looking at all sides.

Seriously, scholorships and grants are the way to go.

Some people do, but that fact has no place in the conversation about the average family sending their kids to college.

You dudes just like find anything negative to say about black people. shyts disgusting:scusthov:

That is definitely a part of this conversation. Having kids when you yourself is not settled in financially and mentally will make your kids suffer, unless drastic action is ensued.

Looking back do you think you could have paid off your loans in less than 6 years?

Yes, I could have paid it off in much less time. I could have cut back on buying stupid shyt like Jordans and Lebrons etc. But I was saving up for a new car and a crib too..thats why it took 6 years. Now I have a new car, new crib and my student loan is paid off so it all worked out.

NO. That's why they have things called financial aid, part-time jobs loans and scholarships. If you get the grades you can get money. Cant expect parents to pay for school especially in this economy.

yall should protest against colleges scamming people. Some people think that higher education is some big, mythical thing that no one should question their methods :leostare: . I'd say that you gotta put pressure on them and tell them to drastically lower their tuition.

i think the kid should chip in though( even if the parents have the money). the reason why is because every person i know who went to college and didnt have to work while in college seemed to suffer afterwards. they went to great schools and had good grades( school is pretty easy if all you have to do is go to school). but they became clueless when they hit the real world and didnt have the work ethics to move up in the world. now this is not always the case but ive seen it alot.

No it's not because its not a very common problem. Most black families don't subscribe to that kind of thinking. Those that do probably aren't going to college anyway. The college tuition issue resides within middle class america. The unwanted/un-taken care of child issue resides within poverty in America. Two separate issues.

another thing is the cost of college is rising exponentially while people's salaries tend to grow at much smaller increments. I guess that makes most people bad parents cuz the education system is all fukked up.

ok? The thread isn't talking about most American families. The thread ask a simple yes or no question.

Well obviously there is no complete yes or no answer. If you want to anylize the worst of the worst people, obviously the answer is yes. If we take the entire country into account than the answer is no

a generation ago, the concept of going to college wasn't looked upon all people. Now since the economy got fukked, everyone and their moms are going back to school and pressuring people to pay hyper-inflated tuition fees. Those poverty black folk that you talked about, may have not planned on going to college back then, but they thinking about it now.

Its a scam. A Scam!
