The DVR you have to use with your Dtv remote. The xbox just allows you to change channels and the volume with your voice. You won't even need to know the channel you wanna watch. Any listing, you ask for it and the xbox will instantly find it and turn there. It'll also keep track of your favorite shows and channels so its easier to find. Then it will switch to another person if they start talking. If if the sound is all the way up, blasting.
You can talk in a normal voice and the XBox will still hear you fine

But yeah the hdmi pass through should still work when your x1 is off, id assume since the x1 is never really "off" unless you unplug it.


And dvr is a function of the dtv box so that should work as normal
