If you could add 3 new official statistics to the NBA, what would they be?

Ditto on Deflections, Shot Alters (though that is REALLY hard to measure) and Hockey Assists or Assists that lead to FT.

What about this concept introduced by Kirk Goldsberry of the "Kobe Assist"...a FG scored off of the put-back from a missed shot?

Watching Mamba and Tyson Chandler and others leads me to believe many of those shots off of the backboard that go RIGHT to a big man are intentional and should be recorded somehow.

A 'good looking' +/- stat.

Carry over points from the last game if your lineup is still crisp. Minus points if you bigen your shyt or if you look like a field nikka. Your default # depends on where your hairline starts.

Some good ideas...

Flops
Deflections
Kobe Assist (no trolling, quite often it's important for a player to just be able to put the ball up at the end of a possession, for someone else to grab the rebound and score. But for the player who shot it's only a missed shot, while it benefited the team).
Screens that directly lead to a basket
Hockey assist
Something about help defense

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
How has lebron NEVER been fined for flopping. He's better than Divac. At least Divac would actually get hit. This nikka just got it in his mind.... "Soon as he gets close to me I'm gonna fake like he hit me and travel 5 steps to sell it good". Like he didn't even have the possibility of the ref not calling a foul in his mind

Scoring differential for defenders, how many points, or how effectively your man scores when you're guarding him, versus when somebody else is guarding him (during substitutions and switches).

Deflections & shot alters

And defensive miscues. Counting how often the other team scores because you lost your man, didn't rotate over, failed the pick and roll defense, etc.

I'd also like fg% to be accounted for when players take 3+ dribbles, versus 3 dribbles or less.
I think it'd be interesting to have something like "errors" in baseball, I don't watch baseball so I don't know exactly how it works but I would think an unforced error is like a late rotation that sort of thing.... and you add them up :yeshrug: maybe someone who actually watches baseball could help me out

fukk stats, that's the fun thing about soccer.
They just play for 90 something minutes, no stats, no stopping the time, no nothing :dead:.
Even assist is hard to find, cats who know the game, know who's dope.

Stats is mostly helpful in baseball cause no one is trying to watch 100s of long ass games in which one player is active in offense for only a few minutes. The most misleading stats in basketball are easily assist and defensive rebounds.
Nah soccer isn't safe anymore. These hipster c*nts have taken over with these useless stats. Look at this tweet I seen

Vidic v Chelsea: 100% tackle success rate, 2 key passes, 13 clearances, 3 interceptions, 95% pass accuracy

you cant be serious with that Kobe assist, so we should reward players/teams for having to throw up prayer shots b/c the shot clock is winding down?

Well, how many times do you see players see the time is expiring, panic and look for Kobe, Lebron, Melo and them to bail them out? Sometimes they make the shot, but sometimes it's enough for them to hit the rim (sometimes it's even a feat they even manage to get a decent shot up) and then someone else grabs the offensive rebound. All I'm saying is that shows up as a negative stat (a missed shot) while in some cases it actually leads to another possession and/or points for the team. So a negative stat can lead to a positive outcome for the team, which is kind of strange when you think about it.

I see it as a hustle play, and it makes me think that saving the ball from going out of bounds should in some way be accounted for.
