If you could change the outcome of one game in NBA history, which would you choose?

I’m a Hornets fan. I easily change the outcome of Game 6 vs the Bucks in the East Semis, 2001.

3-2 lead, and we squander it. Mashburn, Baron, Wesley. I loved that squad

The best answer is DRose not blowing out his knee in that playoff game. The nba was deprived of something amazing.

Ralph Sampson not destroying his back in ‘87 against the Celtics is another choice.

Kobe not blowing his Achilles.

As a Wizards fan, we were never winning a title with this group, but Stupid ass Gerald Wallace flying into Gilbert Arenas’ knee was crushing.

In terms of competition related, I think the Bucks give the Lakers a better series in 2001 so I low key wish they won that game 7.

I came in here to say this, but, D-Rose was a runaway freight train and the matter in which he played was always gonna blow up on him.

The quick snap movements and landing straight legged was gonna catch up.

He should've got a reliable jumper earlier in his career.

Same with D-Wade.

D Rose had a reliable midrange early on. A lot of his game winners were 16-18 footers He just couldnt shoot 3s for shyt

Derrick Rose Stats | Basketball-Reference.com

2011-12 Shooting

That year 75% of his shots were 2pt:

32% of those within 3 ft
18% between 3 to 1ft
9% from 10 to 16ft
16% 16 ft to 3pt Range

D-Rose was going to the hole in traffic, shooting floater thru traffic or shooting long 2's.

It wasn't till his year in Minny where he really mixed up where he was shooting 2 pointers and even constantly shot around 50% from 2pt range

His first three year only %13 of his shots were 3pts (which we both acknowledge), but, 46% of all his attempts (2s or 3s) came within 10 feet

Mind you, D-Rose a was beast rim attacker (48% fg overall)

Off topic 70% of his 2pt FG were unassisted

My bad, I'm starting to be an advanced stat nerd because of bb-reference

The ECF the year before....damn near every game came down to the 4th quarter. Wasnt like miami was just killing them.....thibs just never found a way to counter them trapping D Rose that series
All of those games were close but there’s a reason Miami was always finishing them. Nothing in the East was stopping LeBron in those days.

The Kawhi shot over the Sixers :mjcry:
I really think we could've won the title :mjcry:
The chain of events there is really crazy
If Jimmy leads us to a title he stays probably, and given that Jimmy led Miami to the bubble Finals, we probably make it again in 2020. I think the supporting cast in Philly with Simmons, Harris, and Embiid > what Jimmy had in Miami who took LA to 6, so we might've won that series but who knows

The next though is that if we win the title, we probably don't have Daryl Morey. I'm really happy we have Morey now, don't get me wrong on that, and this isn't Morey's fault, but Houston being petty and not wanting to trade Harden to him is the reason that deal fell through and Harden went to Brooklyn. Good chance we have Harden right now.

Harden/Butler/Tobias/Embiid

:mjcry:
Nah breh lol.

If Philly wins two titles in a row like you suggest they would/could have, why the hell would they then trade Simmons for Harden? :comeon:

G7 2010 nba finals
Celtics really had no business losing that game. I really felt that way at the time. They were up double digits in the second half. Kobe shot abysmally.

The Lakers just willed that one out. I guess home court made a difference too. Both teams ran out of gas because of how rough the whole series was. Ron Artest of all people was just able to hit the big shots at the end.

Kobe deserved THAT title though. Almost felt like it was just basketball karma for all of the work that he had put in his whole life that he was able to win a championship in Game 7 even when he didn’t play his best.
