it really depends on how deep in the red you are, I've noticed the people with -1000+ rep are usually racist posters or really really shytty posters. If you're in the -100s then it's usually because you're a poster that isnt really good or bad and you've said something a few people dislike. Though I'm probably wrong, posters like @truth2000 or something like that had 2000+ rep and he would make posts that were subtly racist.
