I use both. The internet might is good for a quick reference, but a dictionary is better on some "big picture" shyt.

nikkas weren't allowed to read, and now that we're allowed you nikkas don't want to read wtf
Dude, we have the internet...

There is NO written dictionary out there fcuking with the internet...The internet has EVERYTHING...This shyt is amazing...

If you really want to understand a concept like "hope" "empathy" "love" "trust" and etc there is NO hard copy dictionary old or new that will give you up to date information and the speed of the internet...

Dictionaries are for basic surface understanding and/or meaning of words...If you really want to go deep, you need a research article...

Write an academic paper citing a dictionary as your primary source and fail breh...

:wow:, you idiots dont get it. pick up a dictionary over 30yrs old and youll be in amazement at the depth of information and details...online dictionaries and new dictionaries arent shyt, take it from a 25yo with a 38yo dictionary...you ignoramuses never cease to amaze me

:smh:

Yes, there is more information available in a single hardcopy book than on the living, constantly changing entity known as the internet. :stopitslime:

I wonder if you guys believe the shyt you type sometimes.

HELL NO...

The opposite is actually true...Dictionaries will NOT give you the depth of information on a topic, like the internet will...From these pro-dictionary comments I have to guess that ...

(1) Some of you people don't have University educations...You have never written an academic paper...If you had, you would know NO self-respecting professor will accept a dictionary definition as a primary source...NONE...

(2) You are NOT familiar with the concept of research...If you were, you would know that a dictionary printed in 1980 is damn near outdated...

A dictionary gives you a basic understanding...If you want to go deep, the easier access to information is the internet...

The dictionary doesn't even give you opposing definitions that challenge the status quo...

If it is such a good source of information, as YOU claim, why not...?

The fact that you would even question citing a dictionary should let you know that a dictionary is NOT the best source of information available on ANY given topic...

Dictionaries are for little minds...People who just want a basic status quo definition of a word or concept...If you really want to know something, you have to look beyond a dictionary definition...

This is critical thinking 101...

There was no need.

Asserting that a dictionary is more comprehensive and detailed than the entire internet doesn't require a serious response.

Edit: I was mistaken. It wasn't your assertion. But I disagree that the availability of a stupendous amount of information is somehow making us stupider. The distinction should be around how we use that information, not which source contains more. I may check out the link later, but probably not.

Dictionaries are for little minds? Malcolm X used a dictionary in prison nikka. The point of a dictionary is to give explanation behind the words of our language, which gives you an understanding of the language.
