nikka what? I can assume whatever I want. Obviously I don’t know him, but as someone who’s a huge fan of his music, one can learn and assume things about his process. We all know Dre is methodical. So if Dre said I rushed this project, it wouldn’t be crazy to question that. We wouldn’t have to know him. Even though I don’t know for sure, I never saw Havoc as the type to sample like that, so I questioned the shyt.
Fam u can do what u want I’m not stopping u. I just said I don’t agree with it. Havoc never spoke on NOT using items to help produce beats. But we have physical and verbal proof that Dre is methodical. So that’s false equivalence.

The point is, I was right in my assumption, so my thought process couldn’t have been too crazy

Fam it wasn’t crazy. But it was still an assumption. U just happened to be right this time. Lol. As far as my assumptions go. Havoc has proven to be extremely creative based on the way he flips the samples. Even with Shook Ones Part 2. That hi hat not being a stove don’t even put a dent into how creative he had to be to create that beat. So I’m just looking at it from a creative perspective.

Just don’t believe Havoc sample a stove and believe that’s cap. I just don’t see that shyt happening. The story sound cool as hell but i can tell some bullshyt when I hear it. Classic beat though.
I know it’s not the stove but There’s been weirder shyt. I witnessed Khrysis sampling a timberland boot hitting a wall so that when the rapper mentioned something about his timbs stomping someone the kicks in the beat would have a double meaning.

For sure. It’s not uncommon at all. My whole point is that I never thought that to be Havocs style and never heard about him sampling anything else that way. I would have questioned it the same way it Pete Rock said he sampled a stove hissing cause I don’t think Pete has a history of doing that. If I wouldn’t have been called a hater, I wouldn’t have even looked into it and found at that it wasn’t true lol. It was something that I questioned but it wasn’t a hill I was trying to die on.

:wow::wow::wow: shyt like this blows my mind. Kinda reminds me of when Snoop said that Pharrell sampled the sound of somebody spray painting for percussion cause he wanted it to be some gangster shyt.

I can definitely see this being a thread. Discussing weird sample sources

EDIT : For Drop It Like It's Hot

Yo lol I'm dying at how they killing you in here but I'm ngl I always wondered about the stove thing too. I mean, no disrespect but shyt sound like a regular hi hat. I figured it's just cause the first scene in the video is the stove being lit that people ran with that. And I'd never read that interview that you posted before. I think it's kind of a "it's still real to me dammit" moment for many but it is what it is. Still a phenomenal and classic record.

The stove part ain’t even the most creative part of the beat so it is what it is.

No doubt. The Herbie joint is the craziest part of the sample. I mean it took damn near 20 years for people to figure out what the sample was. That says a lot for one of the most beloved joints of all time. It wasn't some random B-side or deep album cut.
