Can't you do it on a laptop? I know it takes up a shytload of system resources but I will be using Photoshop and really just wanted a laptop but it seems like I'm SOL.
Yes you can, But you will have to pay more for a laptop with the same amount of ram in a desktop. Also I like to use a desktop at home when doing work because it feels less casual and more business.
