That second option is looking real appealing, but someone would need to educate me on just how country that part of Georgia is. If I remember correctly, the furthest outside of Atlanta I've been is visiting family in Marietta. It's a little more country than that, right?

Why do you want to live near a metropolitan area? What's the advantage over a rural area?

Amenities is probably the biggest advantage to me. Just more options for everything like food, entertainment, gyms, hospitals, shopping, females.
