The average streamer makes even less then that. But the high profile ones easily make around 50-75k a year when u combine there stream money/youtube money and donations.

high profile ones 50-75k a year? try a month lol they make $500k-3+ million a year easily on twitch (im talking the high profile ones). Summit has 23k subs, he gets $3 per subscriber. Thats $69k per month off subscriptions alone. He also has subscribers that go up to $25 per month (he sees $15 per month off these I believe). Lets just say $75k per month off subscribers. He makes double that in donations in a month. Then another $10-15k per month off ads. Hes pulling in close to $150-250k a month off twitch alone not counting his youtube which is a few thousand a month.

Theres maybe like 15-20 streamers on that level though, very few.

Its very top heavy. Either you making a dream living or you dead broke. Youtube is better for the less popular gamer. But if you can make it on twitch :wow:

Isn't Twitch free already? I've never used the shyt and don't have any interest to do so. Just thought you could link your Twitch to your Prime account. And why use Twitch when you can stream gameplay on YouTube and reach a larger audience?

Don't tell me there's a premium version of Twitch... Why would I want to pay money to watch other people play video games? :snoop:

no.. im not.. the most popular people on twitch arent esport streamers.. Lirik, Summit (even though he could be on a professional team), timthetatman etc all are just variety streamers

It's free,a sub is basically just you supporting them. But it's optional.

Say you really like someone's content you just wanna support them. You pay a sub monthly

Except streaming is a real job for a lot of people.
That's not a job. I'm not saying you can't get money doing it but there's value in a job and usually skills of value involved.

A person siting down playing video games recording themselves and asking for money to do so has real limited value. If that collapses where else can you go and turn the skills you developed there into money?

If you fix cars or cut hair you have an actual skill of value that people in general can use. They'll give you money for it. Streaming game play footage? If we fall on hard times in our economy who's gonna pay you to do that? What does that add to a resume?

Lots and lots of bitterness in this thread. It's not a good look :silvugh:
It's not a good move to stream full time. It's much better to develop a skill that people need and make money doing that. You can make money doing a lot of stuff in this world but that doesn't make all of it a good idea. When the gaming streamer turns 55 are the same amount of people gonna be watching them that were when he was in his 20s?

To me there's too much valuable time people wrap up in streaming that they could be crafting a meaningful skill with. It's a lot of work with a highly likely limited future in doing so. The best case scenario is you becoming so popular doing it you become an A list Twitch or YouTube celeb but that's a very narrow path.
