I'm willing to capitulate on most going to do what they love. When I was in college I'd say at least half the people there knew what they wanted to do after college. The other half that I knew was just there to be there so I'll give you that.
In regards to the careers that don't require a degree I don't see it that way. I think you're setting yourself up for a harder life without a degree. I got scholarships so I didn't have to pay for college so I can't relate to having to get in debt and shyt to fund it. I was actually paid to go to school via financial aid.
I hear you, and I agree that life is easier with at least your Bachelors.
I just feel that there are far too many people getting in far too much debt without a clear and concise plan on what they want to do. There is no age limit to college. As long as you can swallow your ego, you can get a degree whenever. Just make sure its something that will benefit you.
I have a brother who got into Harvard (didn't go, Ivy's dont give financial aid). Ended up going to Vandy. Smartest member of the family, he is truly brilliant. He was two WORTHLESS masters degrees in History and Italian. He's not even a professor (which is the only reason to get either degree). He's currently in school to get his MBA.
If he had a decent gameplan, with all of his brilliance, he could be a CFO by now.
This is why i'm so passionate about this subject. Don't waste your time and money, unless you have a plan.
