Anytime i see bros shytting on college degrees its like
because not only do i see it a lot on here, i also see it a lot in two other places i frequent. Same mentality. "Having a degree isn't going to help"
A black man with a college education can maneuver better than a black man without one. It doesn't mean he won't ever face roadblocks, but it does mean he generally won't have it as bad as the black man with no degree.
Bros discouraging others from getting a degree is ridiculous. Black men have it hard in general, but not having at least some type of post secondary education makes it even harder.
That's when some nikkas start trying to sound deep and shyt, "But education level can't truly be defined by a degree. There are very educated black men with no degree. Having a degree doesn't mean you're REALLY educated. You can be dumb with a degree and intelligent without one...blah blah blah"
You fare better statistically with some type of post secondary education under your belt. nikkas really think Trey with the college degree will have less options than Marcus with just a high school diploma?
College can also be used for networking. One of my teachers helped me get on at my first job after school.
I have known some bros who had a hard time finding work. They enrolled in college, and did work-study while they went. They got their education paid for and made some extra money on campus through a work-study job. Then when they finished, they had it on their resume that they graduated college and did work study while attending. That looks better on a resume than just, "graduated high school, worked at McDonald's"
I say this to say, black men need to not only graduate high school, but also get into post secondary school (whether it's a 4 yr school, CC or trade school) and graduate. We shouldn't feel like just having a high school diploma is enough. Not in this economy. You need as much education as you can get.
These dudes are defeatist. They've convinced themselves that getting a degree won't matter because they've been rejected by so many jobs that they're pessimistic. They've convinced themselves that its a white mans world and its nothing they can do about it and any black man that thinks a degree will lead to more money and more opportunity has to be an Uncle Tom or isn't really black. They threw in the towel, crabs in a fukking bucket to say the least.

at the very best, its just the housing market that crashes in California (which it will in the next year or two). But its about the crash because all the projected start ups that got millions invested into them, didnt end up doing shyt, but raised the housing market pricing up, but now they are moving back to Portland or Montana and shyt leaving the bay with a lot of vacant expensive houses
