Depends on the situation. My boy does contract work and lives in apartments so he can dip if he has to get a new job. Also he ownes like 2 properties and rents them out where he gets income from this.

In 2008 when the economy tanked he decided to buy two fixer up properties and rent them out instead of buying some big 300k house.

Paying someone money every month for something you'll never own

Walking down flights of stairs just to get to your car

Small cramped rooms

The rent goes up every year

People living above and below you like a damn college kid

Ask someone persmission just to paint a wall, get a new appliance

How big is the home that you own

almost the entire millenial generation is completely fukked when it comes to buying houses.

1.5M in toronto in a decent suburb and we're just now starting to pop off as a city. Can't imagine how bad it is in other places like NY, LA, SF...

expecting millenial kids to save up for a 250k down payment with a 100k salary while writing rent cheques and car payments is gonna take a while... and even then after you make the down payment you have nothing left in savings if shyt hits the fan. also 80% of millenials aren't gonna be making 100k as a salary.

shyt is so wack.

I've live in apartments for 10 years and I'm fine with that...I could get a house right now and everyone keeps urging me too but I have no desire too....maybe in 3-5 years. I've live in the same complex for 7 yrs and my rent has only went up like $120 from now to the first lease. I've never had issues with neighbors I don't see or hear them. I don't care about painting walls and I'm a minimalist so my 2 bedroom is plenty of space for me. I never understood why people concern themselves where people choose to live. shyt I think people who drink... Gamble...and smoke are foolish but I don't go around telling me. To me that's more wasteful than living in an apartment
