4637 they probably would've gotten away with smaller transactions
STORY DOESN'T MAKE SENSE.
THE TEXT THAT IS SHOWN SAYS:
"DO YOU RECOGNIZE THE DECLINED
TRANSACTION OF $4637.47
AT WALMART USING CARD XXXXX
IF THEY DECLINED
THE TRANSACTION DUE TO
POSSIBLE FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY
WHY IS THE MONEY MISSING?

And you can't make purchases that big without notifying the bank first especially when you don't do them routinely. That's why credit cards are advised for making payments. Debit card should only be used to withdraw money only. Any unauthorized purchases can easily be disputed with a credit card but damn near impossible if it's a debit card.

She's probably leaving out valuable info like older people tend to do. They get ripped off by scammers all the time. She probably authorized some kind of transaction. Because the text msg they showed on her phone said Reply YES or No. More than likely the number was spoofed and not from Wells Fargo.
I've worked at companies where older employees constantly get scammed by hackers. Their self-awarenes is damn near zero and they'll believe anything put in a website, email or text.

Local news stations can boost their tv ratings covering these scams because their so prevalent. But neither Corporations nor the Government will do much to stop them. You got entire countries making money off these scams.Yeah, this story makes no logical sense.
Why it required a news story is baffling to me.
if it is as she says it is, then she'll get her money no problem
Something does not add up.
