everything I did wrong...worked.
I had a pet hamster back in 2002.
His name was Ham&Cheese.
We were remodeling the crib around that time and somehow the little hamlet got out of his cage.
Thought his ass ran away. After a week, he showed up in the living room (he was crawling between the floors because everything was exposed... I wonder what/who he did during his journeys).
Had him for 2 years as well.
He's in my backyard now, living good in that afterlife.
