Those are cheap references and not something any non-Joe Budden fan can name. We are talking about true, universal quotables. Not average punch lines that make Joe Budden fans go 'whoa'

No one is saying 'bums wont get a bar from me' but 'I'd rather be judged by 12 then carried by 6' has been quoted for 20+ years now.

that wasn't really the point though, he was talkin to ppl on twitter and sayin that if they personally feel someone is a dope lyricist or are saying so and so is the best rapper alive or "rapper a would kill rapper b in a battle" etc., the people making the claim should be able to quote actual lyrics and not just say a>b because it's the popular opinion or "cool" thing to say.

some rappers don't write just for quotable bars and one liners. Instead, the whole verse or song is meant to be taken in as a whole. Nas, Ghostface, BIG, Prodigy, Kool G Rap are probably the best storytellers in mainstream hip hop. you can't just extract random quotes from a lot of their stuff...

But Im glad u mentioned Nas because imo Ether proves (just like Cube's diss records) that an artist can make dope diss records even if he's not known for one liners or punchlines. Which is why ppl cant expect Drake to win a in battle against Kendrick just because he has more memorable punchlines. Just like ppl cant expect Kendrick to win because Drake is "soft" and "r'n'b artist" and Kendrick is a "real mc". But that debate is really not what this thread was about so I'll just shut up, lol.
