Literature was largely shytty pulp novels up until the 50's.

And yeah I know about hemmingway and all them, but the "average" person wasn't reading that.

The internet has given everyone access to do everything. You can download a beat making app and become a producer. You can upload music, television shows, movies to YouTube now you a star it has flooded and diluted entertainment that’s why it’s on its last leg. Now we in the content creator era.

You get rid of the accessibility the rarity would increase the value. People don’t even read like that and if they do it’s e books.

With music I can definitely agree. Artists nowadays drop projects at such a high volume to stay in the algorithm on YouTube & social media, DSP playlists, etc. Whereas once upon a time you could drop a quality project…work the singles for a year, go on tour, and not drop anything new for 2-3 years.

Nowadays unless you’re a megastar (Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Jay, Em, KDot, etc.) most artists can’t afford those large gaps in between albums without losing complete steam. The accessibility via internet has lead to music being more disposable. After a week, people stop caring about most newer projects. It’s not valued nearly as much now.

The internet is not a problem.

Its the people who own the social media companies and their monetization methods.

The internet was at its best probably between 1997-2012. Once youtube opened the door with its "partner" program and allowed people to monetize their videos, it was the beginning of the end.

Others followed suit like Instagram and now Twitter has its own version of monetization.

What this did, is that it turned EVERYONE into the class clown screaming for attention and willing to say and do anything to get noticed. Whether its getting noticed for their comments with likes, or getting enough views so they can go viral and flip that into some sponsorships.

Couple that in with the fact that things are more expensive now than before and jobs are harder to come by, and you've got the perfect recipe for the garbage we see society turning into.

I don't give a fukk if people disagree, but I think all that age verification rigamarole is good. I think it will irritate adults already on the platforms and push them to spend less time on it, and it will push teenagers and kids off these platforms too because it will be too irritating for them to try and circumvent the system.

The most irritating online personalities are sustained by the attention they get from literal children and adults desperate to get some form of social engagement and possibly money. A less distracted society is one that will demand better living conditions.

Music is trash because it's meant to be disposable these days. It's simply a means to an end and they know it will just be used for an edit or meme. TV is garbage cause mf know you'll just be on your phone anyway so why bother trying to invest in a good plot. Netflix literally calls some of their shyt "second screen content".

Its the social media companies. The sooner they're brought down, the better society will be.

I probably bought 30 books last year.

Just got a couple more the other day.
