:gucci: He was more respected than pac bruh.

The fact that your mind immediately went to Pac speaks volumes on the gap between Jada and BIG.

BIG was, at the very least, among the best out back then. Jada was a B-C tier Bad Boy affiliate around the same time.

Ross in the grand scheme of things is a hell of a lot closer to a Jadakiss than a BIG.

I like gusto, but biggie birthed jay-z's style let alone Rick Ross. He birthed a lot of the modern style hardcore rap that we've heard over the past 20 years. Sad thing is biggie didn't even reach his prime. His last verse ever was "victory" and you could really see the potential lyrically for what kinda music he was gonna be putting out if he were to have lived.

If we just basing this off lyrical ability than Big was better by a mile. But it was obvious what direction Big was going in after RTD while Ross only got better with each album. Ross also has a better ear for production and talent.

Triple Cs > Junior Mafia. The best rapper in JM had her lyrics written by Big:heh:

Id much rather hear Gunplay and Torch over Nino Brown and Chico Del Vec:hhh:

I love Big but this isn't a bad argument at all

Biggie doesnt have a "Babies cry"

"one of us"

"Usual Suspects"

"Mafia music"

RIP BIG... But nah..... Salute Rozay.

Young nikka shyt... I know the OGs love BIG.... But Rozay for the young nikkas
In all fairness tho Ross doesn't have a One More Chance, Warning, or Ten Crack Commandments. Big was the most effortless MC ever lyrically

RTD is one of the most overrated classic albums there is though.

Yeah, it's influential but I haven't played it in full in years. The high points of LAD are better.

Ross has a solid catalog...deal with it. :yeshrug:

What's an overrated classic?
:francis:

Sounds like an oxymoron. There's a reason it is considered a classic.

To answer the question, Biggie.

Ross never released upper echelon work to the level of Biggie that along with his longevity would have allowed him to surpass the latter. Great rapper though.

There's a difference between rating someone as rapper versus rating them as a rap artist.

Ross is a better rap artist, but Biggie by far is a better rapper.

Cats like Jadakiss, Ras Kass, Black Thought, Sean Price, are great rappers.

Pac, DMX, LL, Kanye, Ghostface are great artists.

BIG was great at both, but I give Ross the edge in artistry because of BIG's lack of material.

Whereas when it comes to bars, I don't need 500 songs, you can show me you're a lyrical beast without a ton of material.
