There's a difference between rating someone as rapper versus rating them as a rap artist.

Ross is a better rap artist, but Biggie by far is a better rapper.

Cats like Jadakiss, Ras Kass, Black Thought, Sean Price, are great rappers.

Pac, DMX, LL, Kanye, Ghostface are great artists.

BIG was great at both, but I give Ross the edge in artistry because of BIG's lack of material.

Whereas when it comes to bars, I don't need 500 songs, you can show me you're a lyrical beast without a ton of material.

Pac was great at both too

I feel like Ross has 3 classics, POM, Deeper Than Rap and Teflon Don. And a ton of classic songs

Biggie is like Tracy Mcgrady in his prime. Best to ever do it, but only did it for a few seasons.

Ross is more like Tim Duncan. Great surrounding cast. Solid for a long time.

Even in tmacs prime he was never the best lol

Thank you for this.

Ross having even 67 votes lets me know I need to take a break from the Internet for a while :ehh:

You aren't listening to what I'm saying breh.

It doesn't matter if it's good or bad. Nobody was gonna jump out the window and say anything bad about it regardless, directly after BIG died. It would've been career suicide.

Fred.

What about Pun’s second album Hex? That one was criticized (as it should have been) for being lackluster

On a technical level he my top 3

I think it kinda hurts him that Ready to Die sounds a lil dated so his total #of songs is sparse to judge

Ross flow is :wow:

But redundant on subjects

He also underrated on a technical level

His style is built off Big

So basically big is rated higher as a mc for me
But Ross higher as an artist

If that makes sense

Some of Ready to Die sounds a bit dated but you can see even when Biggie was still using his old school Chubb Rock/King Tee flow that he was a much more imaginative/creative MC than Ross has ever shown to be. On Gimme The Loot he switches up his voice and plays two different characters on the track and on Suicidal Thoughts he expressed his macabre inner feelings of killing himself. And that was just on his first album. BIG showed alot of growth as an artist on the second album also. I really can't think of any Ross songs that shows the storytelling brilliance like Somebody's Gotta Die or I Got A Story To Tell. Ross' biggest flaw is his lack of subject matter and dexterity and he isn't quite as nice flow wise, or voice wise, as Biggie also. BIG was just so commanding on tracks. And we all know he is EASILY the most quoted rapper of all time and yes he only had two albums but let's not forget that he had countless guests spots and wrote a significant amount of verses for Junior Mafia, Lil Kim as a solo artist and others. So it's not like he was being lazy. And we also got to look at the MC talent of each rapper's contemporaries. I don't think too many will try to argue that Ross' contemporaries were as gifted rap wise as Biggie's and Biggie was still considered Top 2 or 3 rappers alive when he was alive. Ross has a much bigger catalog (of course...considering BIG's career was only a few years long) but I still can't see how he's a better artist.

:gucci: I posted a triple entendre from rock ross earlier in this thread, does biggie have any triple entendres?
1 triple entendre and that matches Biggie’s entire history of metaphors and word play....ok:francis:

You don't listen to rick Ross I can tell
I must admit that I’m not a fan of his like big’s (obviously) but I’ve listened to rick enough to know what to expect once the beat drops:yeshrug:
