I never had a job, can't out of prison at 22. So my "friends" were comfortable with me being the low hanging fruit

By 26 I had got a degree, God job, was doing a masters degree, got the flyest clothes and people starter not fukkin with me.

I just stay on my grind.

Def true statement. When I got my business off the ground a bunch of people I thought had my back started looking funny in the light.

Some people dont want you to be successful in a way that they cant achieve, because it spotlights their shortcomings.

That's it, I have never understood why envy instead of motivation arises. if somebody close to me achieve's something that inspires me as I would have seen them progress on their journey.

Why is that???

As I matured, I realized that I was surrounded by people more concerned with "looking good/ important/ rich" while doing regular shyt with no substance. Type of folks who have the latest car, nice clothes, drink the finest but holiday season come around and they screaming, "We're broke!" Nothing wrong with that if thats your lane.

Me, I wanted to contribute to/ improve the community and have my own and own shyt. All the while, I didn't feel compelled to 'wear my wealth" like the fam. To them, I was doing too much and they didn't see any importance in it. Essentially, they hit me with the, thus, making for a toxic, "crab in a barrel" environment and I couldn't deal with the pessimism.

A breh moved on and have never been happier WITHOUT THEM.
