If you were given $100 on January 1 and was challenged to have 100k by Dec 31 how would you do it?

My preliminary idea deals with automotive stuff:

You only have $100 to start so your initial avenues are limited. A good way to try and maximize this is to get a lot for a little. So what you do is find some junkyards where you pay a small fee and you can pull whatever you can carry - this shouldn't set you back more than $25 per trip. Pull parts from common cars: Civics, Accords, Camrys, Corollas. Turn around and sell those on Craigslist or Facebook. I believe you'll be able to turn that hundred into a few thousand within 6-8 weeks if you're constantly on task.

After you've got a few thousand I think you could work towards flipping cars. Risky but oftentimes people are selling cars that need small and at times inexpensive fixes. It should be possible to make a few hundred per transaction at least.

Once you get beyond that I dunno yet :patrice:. Best case scenario with that plan might get you towards $20,000 in 6 months, maybe. But that's dependent on a lot of favorable factors.

That's irrelevant.

I, nor anybody else, would argue that turning $100 into $100,000 over 12 months is LIKELY. I'm just arguing that it's POSSIBLE, and people do it often enough that it can't be considered a needle in the haystack situation.
thats not what I was replying to.
I was replying to you saying someone going from $100 to $100,000 wouldnt raise an eyebrow.
That would be a remarkable feat.

This is actually very realistic. You could easily get into the reselling business with only $100 to start with, which is what I'd do.

I just started learning about this and I'm seriously considering it. Sounds like a great way to get start up capital for something bigger.

It is possible to turn a hundred bucks into 100k in a year. Just like it is also possible for me to hit the mega millions jackpot.

@Obreh Winfrey Actually posted a good idea with the car part thing. The challenge is the marketplace. People bullshiit a lot on ebay, they file returns for any and everything. Maybe it is possible to sell on craigslist but I dealt with a lot of bullshiiters on there as well. People claim to want to buy then flake with no call or explanation. Other than that, if you can find a pretty good marketplace where people are serious about buying, this is a VERY good idea.

The challenging part is finding the marketplace.
