Lets say you woke up one day and found yourself in another land/world etc whose technology was far behind your own. After discovering how smart you were (if you're an ignorant poster you should probably leave this thread now) they asked you to become king of their land. Would you become a king at their request or would you create a different goverment and how would it be ran?
You also need to take in consideration the religion of that land/world because it could be something you don't believe in or that could interfere with your work.

Well, there would be some constraints to technological advances. So I know how to program software programs but that would be worthless if there was no electricity or computers. Hardware and software are different technologies.
I know how to fix cars but I can't build a car from scratch.
I could apply knowledge concepts like assembly line process for manufacturing; simple machines like the lever and wedge; military knowledge like British square, ambush, anti-ambush, guerilla warfare, hand-to-hand combat, sniper/spotter concept, and ammunition management; supply chain management and logistical solutions for transportation of goods; home building; movie production; music production; hockey coaching; basketball coaching; and cooking skills.

But, I would set up a dictatorship. Monarchy is okay. But then, I would have to deal with the whole queen, princess, prince, duke, dutchess, knights, etc. crap. If you have a dictatorship, you operate the country in the same way except without the pomp. I would try to build up the infrastructure with roads and bridges and tunnels, and electrical, telephone, cable, and/or fiber optic lines and hydroelectric dams. I would build up the military. I would build up schools... This is almost like SIMS. Depending on the geography of the land, I might have to build a canal, aquaduct, forts, etc.

I would divide the land into twelve districts. There would be two representatives from each district who would fight for survival in a game called The Hunger Games.

So I'd decline the offer, and then try to figure out a way to make some bank with my tech knowledge. Once I have enough money saved up, I'd just retire and try to live out the rest of my life as comfortably (and doing as little work) as possible.

How do you figure that? It might not be a day job, but I'd imagine being a king is still stressful as fukk.

1. You have to worry about figuring out how to keep your subjects happy lest they try to overthrow/dethrone you
2. You have to worry about assassination attempts
3. You'd probably get blamed anytime something bad happens
4. Other kingdoms might try to start a war
5. Somebody in your circle could easily start plotting kill you and take your spot
6. People would constantly request you do things, many of which might be impossible


I mean you'd basically have to spend your whole life looking over your shoulder.

Eff that. If I was stuck in a bronze age kingdom or something I'd just make a decent amount of bank and them go live somewhere as a recluse. I'm not trying to get involved in any of their dark ages bullshyt.

If you were a queen, would you rename the kingdom you run as a Queendom? Seeing as how the United Kingdom has been run by a queen over the past 100 years I'd be ok with it.
