Are you Kidding me? Win what?

Miami and Brooklyn have at best two more years of being contenders as currently constructed, the rest of the East is wide open. Teague will be a top ten PG this year, Hortford is entering his prime, and they have loads of cap space for he foreseeable future.

Once NY gets Amare, Bargs, & Chandler off the books they'll have money to work with. They could have Melo back on his next deal, JR & Felton cheap for that 1st year of Melos deal (if they used their options), & Shump on his QO/new deal.

A lot of the Knicks "problems" going foward is how much they pay Shump if they keep him, how long a deal Melo signs, & who would fill out the rest of their roster.

Dallas.

No taxes, still would have cap room left to fill out the roster, and a smart owner like Cuban who knows how to win.

I always thought he would have been a great fit with the Hawks and hoped the Hawks would have offered Josh Smith for him at the time but he was hell bent on going to NY. :manny:

:heh: @ a lot of Hawks fans saying they'd rather keep Josh Smith than get Melo. Josh was a good player... but IF you have a shot at getting a star you drop your loyalty to local products and go after said star, PERIOD.

There's a lot of ATL dislike on this board :laff:
You mostly notice it because you're from here. The hatred hierarchy in The-Coli is as follows when it comes to the NBA

  1. Lebron
  2. L.A. Lakers
  3. Miami Heat
  4. Kobe stans
  5. NY Knicks
  6. Bulls fans
  7. Kobe Bryant
  8. David Stern
  9. Dwight Howard

No state taxes in Florida either :myman:

He could join Lebron in Miami and play the 4 at a discounted rate and gurantee himself a ring :smugbiden:

Bulls lack a second option, while the Pacers have no franchise player. If Goerge lives up to his potential, then this is a different conversation. I said the Nets have a 2 year window as currently constructed.

:what:
then how did the bulls get to the 2nd rd without zero option
and goerge is played all year esp in the playoffs like a top 10 player

Bulls play elite defense and Thibs is one of the game's premier coaches. Not too mention the Nets choked.
George is a good young player, but he's not elite like Bron; Durant, Melo, or Westbrook. Not a disservice to him, the league only has a handful of superstar players.

As a Hawks fan, I don't want Melo :whoa:

But to say Atlanta isn't a basketball town is inaccurate. Atlanta is a star driven town, get the Hawks a bona fide superstar and he would OWN this city (think Mike Vick circa 01-07). And everyone wants to live in Atlanta, LaLa did radio here at Hot 107.9 with Ludacris when he was on a radio personality. It would be an easy transition for Melo & LaLa to live here, they'd be treated like royalty

Word vick was a god in the ATL
