An update on these dudes, who are apparently still living in japan quietly. They had committed other crimes and received jail time but nothing as horrific as to what happened to Furuta. Thats some sad shyt and apparently Japanese people know about it... and will do nothing.
They also changed there names.

It's cultural, really.
They prioritize "go along, don't make a fuss" and this is the result.
An island of people who are extremely polite, but extremely passive as well.
That combined with the idolisation of hierarchy wherever it's found, and that's how it happens.
A higher up, due to his gang connections, terrorizing a young girl, and everyone goes along with it, cuz you don't challenge "up".
