Now I totally believe you if you said individuals. Most household estimates are counting two working adults so, that 74k estimate is actually just two adults making a little more than 35k which is pretty average and reasonable for most people in America. Rarely is that a single person pulling 70k with a stay at home wife or going dolo. But even this situation is more common among whites
