I don't think the actual slavery was a choice, it sounded like he was trying to make Candace Owen about the slavery mindset that goes on today, he just crossed his words and didn't get his point across as clear as he could have and people took his quote literally.

No he said 400 years of slavery sounds like a choice. Slavery went on for much longer then that so he is ignoring not only the physical but mental slavery put on by others. But then again he thinks it is a choice.

I just think he misspoke and chose his words poorly. Nobody has ever made that opinion before because it's obvious slaves were forced and born into that life and if they rebelled would be risking their life.

He has to be talking about mental slavery in the present because he's made that point before.

I think he's new to conservative philosophy so he's still learning the nuances and likely getting coached or having discussions with Candace Owens since they have been hanging out lately.
