I've been binge watching this channel a lot lately.

Crazy how all the allied health professions make peanuts compared to IT.

Even doctors in residency are making like 60k-70k working 80 hrs a week.
She’s interviewing the wrong people in health care there are people caking :wow:

You got nurses making 90/hr and I’m not even talking about travel nurses.

Surgeons are pulling in half to a million now due to inflation.

Scroll to the bottom to see the pay:

I'm a software engineer , and I make 80k with just 5 months of experience. Is 200k really that hard to believe once you
have 5+ years of experience at some major software company like microsoft?

200k base is suspect..now the location matters...but I'm calling ducktales

Everyone in that industry is so silo'd and isolated in their field they don't know that other professionals are making as much or more money :hubie:

Trust me lol
There certainly are, but I would say there's less of an investment in time and money to get the qualifications to get to those type of salaries in tech than other industries. And also less gatekeeping to get your foot in the door once you have credentials/certifications. I try to put my people on too the opportunities in tech since it's such an untapped field for us. Be having meetings with nothing but white folks and Indians in the room all the time.

Between my last 3 teams, 45 people, 2 black including me. And any management meetings I went to I was the only black face until the last 2 months. Cool Nigerian dude that I welcomed to the company on his first day told me in private after we got cool "I was so happy to see that it was you when I walked in the building and saw another black face greeting me." I told him the feeling was definitely mutual:myman:

Bruh I’m in Pharma doing pretty good.

But these numbers got me thinking about transitioning.

It’s not even the money really even though that’s good pay

It’s not having to do deal with people everyday and being able to learn on your own and grind it out

I get paid in Pharma Biotech but the amount of bs u have to deal with and rely on other people for tribal knowledge is irritating.

I would love to just learn on my own and do my best work without relying on people for every other thing

Yeah, it’s kind of sus. She said her salary basically doubles from stocks. Is that legit?:patrice:

Yes this is possible at major tech companies (google/ meta etc..). 100K+ stock per year is not uncommon. Especially after working a few years cause every year you get new stock grants so it starts to compound. So on hire you might get 400K stock spread over 4 years lets say. Thats 100k per year in stock on top your base salary. But each year you get another stock grant at bonus time so if you got a 100k stock(Over 4 years again) bonus every year then the 2nd year your stock is now 125k. 3rd year would be 150k etc..

Also with stock appreciation you can increase your stock grant. So for example if you were lucky and got hired at Meta a year ago and your on hire stock award is 400k over 4 years the amount of stock shares is pegged at the price when you were hired. Meta stock has almost tripled since 1 year ago so your on hire stock award shares are now worth 1.2 million in stock. This is how tech bros really get money and what the girl in the video is referring to. I know folks who made over a million from tesla stock this way. Im at a FANNG and my stock award has doubled.

500k for software engineer sounds like duck tales

200k base for her sounds like ducktales
Not at all. But those are FANNG salaries.

For Cybersecurity, Get that Comptia+

Information Technology (IT) Certifications & Training | CompTIA

Comptia+ Udemy course and exam

The benefits of having a Comptia cert is companies like Intel, Dell, Ricoh, Nissan, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and HP all look for CompTIA A+ certification in hiring. Other CompTIA A+ job titles include the following: Service desk analyst. Technical support specialist.

If you're trying to get into data analyst, these certs are recommend to get your foot in the door

https://www.indeed.com/career-advic...received certifications within their industry.

The career choices I'm looking 1.) data analyst 2.) cybersecurity or network engineering

Already have a background working with firewalls and configurating security programs. Preventing viruses, spyware and anti viruses. Did this at a young age, so eventually, this is second nature.

My brother is a web designer and a software engineer. He illustrates and creates websites for well known companies. His coding knowledge is extensive. Mastered HTML, JavaScript, SQL, Python, etc. It's not a easy task but it's worth the work.

Coding is a fun task for implementing projects. Not gonna lie, I sometimes get confused and frustrated when I try to input the code but it gives me an error haha

If you're already coding, and not feeling you might want to pivot into product management. There's a bag, especially focusing on more revenue-driven initiatives

Software engineers, data scientists, analysts, product, front end devs, etc all these technical roles are a lot more ubiquitous compared to 10 years ago so pay seemed to have stalled, at least in my experience. I remember data scientist when it was a newish thing around 2010 paid 120k starting, it’s still 120k or less starting.

I manage a team of some very technical and senior folks and the highest is like 220k and for their knowledge and experience, it doesn’t seem that much. There’s also lots of off shore options that will do it for 1/3 of the price and they’re actually really good, just as good as what you find here especially if you’re looking to just maintain rather than a new product build. The real money is moving up in management. So build your hard skills and soft skills and move into management.

Also, aligning with the departments/project that generate revenue. I made the pivot from consulting in supply chain management to product/project management in RevOps/MarTech/PLG.
