Bet my homie $500 back then he would never make it. I don't know why I felt so strongly. It was just the end of the mixtape era to me, this was between 2009-2013, and I could tell that kind of style would never break through to mainstream. He was like Lloyd Banks or something back in 2002.

I remember DJ Ill Will and DJ Rockstar, anything they had a hand in, in that era I was on it

Nygga don't even go by it anymore ...the Fck kinda name is "Rich Rocka"?!

:stopitslime:

It ain't to late, breh. Just change the name up again and try again. If 2 chainz and hit maker can do it, so can you

He was pretty dope. Wrote for K-Fed and I think was writing for others for a while. On The Game mixtape I heard him first over the G Thang beat and interest was piqued. :leon:

Rich Rocka though? :scust: Could have gone the rest of my life not knowing that name swap.

All of those "new bay" rappers [Balance
The Frontline, Big Rich, Young Dru, The Team, etc] seemed to have vanished except for Locksmith and Mistah FAB.

:whoo:

Cali yall was running shxt back then IMO

The New Bay movement got derailed by hyphy music and especially E-40's bytchass. It sent Bay Area rap back by a decade and completely ruined the region's image to everyone else.

I don't know if he was ever on paper at BWS, i think he was brought in to contribute to the Interscope/Aftermath writing pool. His first deal was with Akon and the way that deal played out is why he never popped.

He still makes music here and there - he probably has/had more success writing.

Catch me dippin in a jag, seaweed green
I'm in a league of my own, you in the peewee league
When I was broke, still my grill at least 3 Gs
Now I talk with a smile, let the VVs breathe
Its Ya Boy, I represent da CDP
You a hoe dog, you be where the weenies be
You da man when the East Coast talk about ya
Buzzin in the streets, each coast speak about ya

:wow: Last two bars always hit hard. Lowkey might be the only rapper I ever heard rep Central/Divisadero Playas on a track lol.

When The Game, Ya Boy and Clyde Carson was together as Black Wallstreet, I copped every single one of their mixtapes
Must be like 10+ years ago....
