The way I look at it, I don't get worked up over the fact that they're illegal, but at the same time there can't be completely unrestricted immigration

I'm talking to brick walls here. But when Africans were brought here through slavery obviously there weren't any immigration laws. Between 1880 and WWI 25 million immigrants came to the us without any paper work or visas. There were plenty of Mexicans here but they were denied citizenship because it was reserved for white immigrants only.

But back on topic why are you allowing yourself to justify denying people rights based off of "legal" status. Also U.S policies around the world and especially in central and Latin America helped create many undocumented migrants so how is it not unjust to deport people despite screwing over their home country

The 14th amendment was passed in 1868. The very first sentence of Section 1 of the 14th Amendment states:

"All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States... ."

Do you want to know why the 14th Amendment to the Constitution was passed? It is because Black People (ex-slaves) were not citizens of the United States; even though their ancestors had been in this Country since the 1500's, which was even before the USA was a country.

So all of those people that you claim came here from Europe actually only became citizens because they were naturalized under the 14th amendment. In fact they had to pledge allegiance to the United States as part of the naturalization process. If a Mexican was born in the United States then they were already an American citizen, which you conveniently keep dancing around. Mexicans that are born in the USA are already Americans. Mexicans that come through the front door of the USA and are naturalized; are already Americans. It is the Mexicans that are born outside of the USA that are not Americans.

A few other things to keep in mind is that the Western United States had only become apart of the United States in the 1800's, when the USA had the Louisiana Purchase with France in 1803 (after France lost their war in Haiti against the Slaves); and the second land acquisition was when America defeated Mexico in the Mexican America War in 1848. The 14th Amendment was not even created for another 20 years; so how exactly were Mexicans going to become USA citizens at that point? Moreover, Mexico has always been a sovereign nation and many Mexicans still claimed to be citizens of Mexico after the War ended; so how exactly was the USA going to make them US citizens? As it was there were lots of Mexicans that were in California, Arizona, New Mexico, etc., after the war; and many just stayed put. Be that as it may; there was never a time that they were ever treated worse than African Americans. Ever.

So I will ask you again; why do you keep trying to equate African Americans to illegal immigrants from Mexico? I wonder if you would be this strong on this position if it were millions of Nigerians, rather than millions of Mexicans that had entered the USA illegally and were now demanding US citizenship.

Your first point about the 14th amendment is spot on it provides citizenship to people naturalized here, which is what happened to Euro whites and blacks. However, if we examine how the 14th amendment actually played out we can see even though there were plenty of Mexican migrants born in the U.S after its passage they were denied citizenship because they were solely viewed as workers and not as immigrants. So plenty of Mexicans should have been granted citizenship but they weren't. With this understanding the point you raise by stating , "If a Mexican was born in the United States then they were already an American citizen" is false because they were historically denied citizenship despite legally deserving it. Also, the 14th amendment stacked citizenship in favor of euro whites because colonization prevented waves of people of African Decent form immigrating to the U.S.

The reliance on Mexican labor is clear with the Chinese exclusion Act leaving Mexicans as the major source of exploitable labor on the west coast. Also i'm not arguing that Mexican migrants have ever been treated worse than African Americans, I'm just point out that they have been fuked by a racist system as well.
Also, nor am i equating african americans to illegal immigrants from Mexico i am simply pointing out similarities in both groups positioning within a system that looks to exploit them and their labor by denying them rights originally due their race but now due to labels like "felon" or "illegal". And I would feel similarly for Nigerians as well because the colonization they faced is a part of the racist system that has and continues to exploit African Americans, Mexicans, and colored people all over the world.

The proper comparison for Mexicans is Cubans.

That is the proper comparison. There was never any good reason provided for why Cubans automatically become citizens when they reach the USA, but Mexicans and other ethnic groups are not.

Mexicans trying to equate their situation to African Americans is a losing argument, because even the biggest racist in the World can see that there is a major difference in the position of those two groups.

People claim there are only 12 milllion of them, I bet you the real figure is 3 to 4 TIMES THAT!

I came to that realization this weekend. Went driving round lakes looking for fishing spots and I'd say 9/10 of the pavilions had a party packed with latinos. Mind you, this is the midwest in a city that's supposedly about 80-85% white and maybe 5-10% black by the census. Other weird shyt like how many latinos you see out and about, all these Spanish-only businesses opening up around here, etc.

Now, here's the funny thing I noticed. I don't know what it is about my car's daylights, but it freaks the fukk out of illegals. How do I know this? any time I get behind a dusty ass car with a suspect plate; you all know what I'm talking about; way out of state in a weird place at night, paper tags that are impossible to read through the window, etc.

They start doing weird shyt like slowing WAY the fukk down or trying to pull a sneak turn on me; signaling, then breaking out in the opposite direction. I had some old latina pull this shyt and whipped off an offramp infront of a truck at the last minute. Another old latina pulled this shyt today when I was behind her on the way to the liquor store. I got right up on her ass for driving too slow, she didn't just fake signal, she crossed me over like old-school AI :mjlol:

I remember helping quiz my parents on their immigration exam. They had green cards for close to 10 years at that point. I remember waiting in those lines with them.

I KNOW whats going on here.

And yet all you have to do is sneak across, now you wanna jump the line?

My parents had to get degrees. Had to have assets. Had to have skills...and then even win a lottery just to get here because of their jobs.

I would even recommend reforms to the legal system....but illegal immigrants have GOT. TO. GO.
