Most likely fake but if real, despite his circumstances, he is actually in a decent position to achieve his dreams. If he can't swing a scholarship then go armed forces, and gear his path towards medical shyt. Barring that, a year in community college with the intention of switching over to a regular university may work as well. He should keep in mind that when choosing a major, choose a non-science one to maximize how many science classes he can take while keeping his science GPA high.

I knew people like that growing up. They were raised in poverty or in "the hood" and absolutely loathed everything about it. It was as if they hated Black People too. They'd attempt to escape their misery with Anime, other nerd interests, Rock music like Emo, Degrassi, blogs like Reddit etc.. They eventually have nothing in common with your average member of the Black Community and hold grudges while they drown in their self pity.
