@Afrodroid @Apollo Creed @Reactor1804 is these apartment numbers in Rio Cap?
Ipanena R$ 3000 (550 USD) leblon R 3500 or 630 usd copa R2500 or 450 us bota fogo R1525 or 270 usd?

I need context on what you are trying to do.

Rio is expensive and everything is old. Leblon is my old stomping ground and is the money side of south zone, Copa is peak tourism, Ipanema is high tourism too. Bota fogo a lil out the way of “action” as i assume yoh are a first timer. You will hear barra de tijuca get tossed around cause they got newer stuff but its out the way for a first timer.

Nah listening to this Youtuber run down basics costs of apartments there. Video is kinda long but I could post it if necessary.

I´m doing a long term Cost of Living project so i just wanted to know if the ballpark prices are correct.

Sorta Like if you lived in the roughest hood in the DC you could find a tenement building for about 1250 to 1400. Something halfway decent but still in the hood 1500 to 1800.

you want to live in Rio? If you are worried about Budget, Rio isn't the place to live. Rio is an expensive city with out the big city or modern amenities of a São Paulo.

And even if you learn Portuguese, you will still be seen as a gringo and tried to live outside of South Zone which I wouldn't suggest.

That's about right. The southern part of Rio de Janeiro has the most expensive square meter in Brazil.

From New Year's Eve until Carnival, you can expect even more price increases.

I read brazil gives you 90 day stays , is that heavily enforced? like banned from Brazil type?
or is it more like DR , where you just have to pay a fee .

Bolsonaro removed the Visa but before and after him there was always a Visa required. This current iteration is 90 days per year for 10 years for the standard Tourist Visa. It's not a recurring Tourist Entry (which isn't a visa) like you see in Colombia or DR where on Day 89 you can do a Visa Run (leave and come back) and your 90 days reset.

What exactly are you trying to do where you want to be there more than 90 days in a year and not get the proper visa?

I work remote , and sometimes I like being in a country for more than 90 days.
I usually do it in DR but haven't done it somewhere else.

Yes and I´m thinking of going but dude said this was base prices for people who live there.

I just wanted to know if he was capping or not.

Thanks.

Is Botafogo kinda the hood or something?

actually other than a group trip or going to Carnvial I have no real desire to live in Rio. If I wanted City Boy life I´d live in Sao Paulo, Since I´m looking to get a small farm I´m thinking somewhere in Pernambuco near Recife or maybe near Fortaleza.

Id never do more than 90 days in one country in a year just because I dont want to deal with the tax implications. DR isn't really a serious country and as mentioned their counter resets every time you do a border run.

60 days in Brazil is enough to let you city hop and see which is your lane with another 30 days to burn in that city to see if you really could see yourself setting up shop.

are these just places you heard about or are you really about that life? We all different but all them spots boring as shyt lol. And São Paulo is my spot but it's like being in the USA, and based on your post history I dont think it would be for you vibe wise. I have been to Recife and it's boring as shyt, Fortaleza I haven't been yet but I`m like 90% sure it's the same. And I'd advise spend a lot of time on the ground in the Nordeste if you really thinking about that rural life.

exactly. i´m pretty happy here the weather is better for farming in Colombia where I am but I´m also in a warzone.

So I will give Brazil a good look see but I´m been in South America for years and based on what I heard I didn´t really want to go. But if we had to go off stereotypes about a place you´d assume that Colombia was a hellhole so why not see if it´s an alternative at least to prove to myself that I made the right choice about Colombia.

Brazil is a different universe than the rest of South America, that is both a good and bad thing.

because I´m in South America my youtube is different I saw a Youtube news show about Sao Paulo being the kidnapping capital of South America.

I´m sure that doesn´t happen in the upscale areas but even in Colombia where a kid of a kingpin was kidnapped it´s not common but if you are kidnapped in Colombia you´d be way better off paying the ransom because the cops and the special anti kidnapping taskforce ain´t gonna save you.

Is it that bad in SP?
