I may just have to do a wired connection than.......I can't believe Sony left 5GHz feature out:bryan:

:yeshrug: You gonna have to wait a year or 2 for that PS4 hardware revision/new model that includes an updated wireless chip. I do agree that Sony fukked up by not using the same wireless chip that's in the Xbox1 (The Wireless chip in the PS4 is a Marvell Avastar 88W8797, The Wireless chip in the Xbox1 is a Marvell Avastar 88W8897). Both the WiiU & Xbox1 support Dual-band WiFi, launch PS4 only has 2.4ghz WiFi.

:patrice: Because of this, I'm wondering should I even buy an extended warranty for the PS4. Because as soon Sony puts out a PS4 hardware revision/new model, i'm flipping the launch PS4.

I do wonder what the next model PS4 would be also, I had no clue the Wii U supports dual-band though:dead:

It really is weird they left out dual-band support.........anyway I think I'm just gonna switch up my router and wireless setup and move it into the living room.

Long story short, I use to think there was something wrong with my ISP because I was getting extremely low speeds in my apartment. Turns out I just needed to switch my dual band router from 2.5Ghz to 5Ghz, because there are too many people in my apartment complex running 2.5Ghz . Now that I switched, all my devices that allow 5GHz access internet data much much faster.

Well it turns out PS4 does not have a 5GHz option (at least I don't think so), but the Xbox One does......I really wanna stick with Sony, cause I been rocking with them since the PS1, am I right to assume that if I did in fact buy the PS4 in the future, it would run extremely slow when it comes to downloading stuff from PSN or even connecting to multiplayer
download the wifi analyzer app on a cell phone (ios or android) and adjust your channel to one less commonly used in your apartment. or plug the PS4 directly into the router.

Sony just went cheap as hell on the wi-fi chip. All my devices run on 5ghz band. In fact the the X1 is 5ghz AC capable. For OP try using a different channel on your router. If your have a android phone download wi-fi analyzer and scan your surroundings and choose the less congested channel.

most people in apartments are cheap when it comes to wireless routers.

those are like the top 3 apartment routers. i'd avoid all of them.
I use that one. never gave me any trouble.
