Anybody who's thinking about enlisting best piece of advice I can give is wait for the job you want. Don't let the recruiter finesse you into going open. That's where I fukked up at.

I was ready to leave the house and desperate to join whoever would take me/whatever job was available.
I thank God for my pops and Grandad (both Army vets) who told me they’d kick my ass if 1. I joined the Army 2. wait for the job I wanted (recruiter was offering me bum ass jobs even with an 85 ASVAB score. I threatened to walk)...a short enlistment, a bunch of dope TDYs and assignments, and a direct commission later...I have no regrets.

My recruiter kept trying to offer me linguistics guaranteed but that shyt didn’t click, i think that wou;d have been ill in hindsight

Air Force boot camp we got two 15 minute calls , the fourth week and sixth week if I recall. If it's an emergency, they'll break protocol

The Army tends to not play around with BCT so I imagine your boy isnt getting a lot of privileges early on.

He wont have a lot during the early phases of OCS either.

man one day i was coming from stl and my flight had to stop in chicago. A breh sat next to me and turns out he was an officer in the army , chopped it up about being an officer for about 30 mins. Yall boys be gettin, had me wishin i took my ass to school lol

Im out now breh, tryna wrap this cert up i started last march, as for now i got a good job a month after i left the airforce
