I think you should make small goals for yourself that are achievable and give you motivation to keep a positive mindset.

- Jog a mile after work
- Do something kind for someone
- Work out
- Read a book
- Call an older relative you havent spoken to in a while

Stay away from negative media like the Joker movie or anything that has heavy subject matter.
Watch uplifting movies and comedies.
Keep your mood light.

Im there with you brother, i have felt and sometimes feel the same way as you do to this day.. sometimes you wanna get revenge or push yourself to be somebody people want to be. But like breh with those quotes a few posts back said you just turn into a prisoner. No escape no outlet no future. Take every day and make good moments from them. Take care of your body by working out, take care of your mental by reading positive or entertaining stuff or watch a dope movie you like or a game that you enjoy. But most of all value yourself no one else is going to do it for you breh. Best believe you have something to contribute in this life. Get dressed up fly and go out and meet people in a hobby or class or workshop. Eat healthy remember the good times because even at its most darkest there will always be some type of light to guide you out. Look at all these posts in support, thats something breh.. you are not alone, we all suffer and we can build from that suffering into something positive.

Hold your head. Youre not the only person whos going through shyt out here so dont feel ashamed or embarrassed for opening up about your struggles. Dont be afraid to shut off everything and take sometime for yourself to clear your head to bring yourself back to sanity. Depression is a bytch to have in the fall and winter. Thats when it really hits the harder because all the happy people whose lives are going well decide to rub that shyt in everyone whos going through it faces especially during the holidays. So be careful of what you expose yourself too as you may make your depression worse.

So that means youre going to have to experiment. You might have to change your diet, check your blood test results to see if you have any imbalances in your system. Youre going to have to research yourself. Its going to be tough but you have to fight. Trust me, im fighting my shyt right now. You just get used to fighting it when you find that line.

IMO people with depression and anxiety are running from something as well.

Very rarely is that shyt actually genetic or hardwired into a person. And even if it is, medication can fix that shyt relatively easily.

Could also be CTE - did you ever play football?

Holidays are a rough time in general and life changes can occur. Condolences for your loss. Some suggestions, try if safe:

a brief walk
Meditation-sit still for five minutes perhaps with a song that takes you to a “happy” memory
Watching something “positive” without the following themes addressed in your OP
Volunteer (you need not isolate at this time) if able
If you have “no one” to call as a diversion and don’t feel like you can trust your self or have impulsive tendencies (picking up a bottle or any mind-altering substance or sex or shopping aka dopamine-seeking) tell yourself no. Not yet. This isn’t everything I am.
Write. Don’t focus on the content or structure just get things on paper so when you pull through this space you know it gets better.
Make sure you bathe. Pay attention to the passage of time. Does five minutes feel longer or shorter than usual?

I don’t use the S word or allude to it, but if those are thoughts there are hotlines that can help. Take care.
