I know plenty of people liked it.

all the kids would be singing along cause it's just slow enough to be catchy and memorizable.

I knew a whole lot of other folks that didn't like it, because it and a whole lot of other "inner city" stuff from the 90's seemed like black people's problems from a white person's perspective.

No it was a well regarded song when it came out. Granted it wasn't HARDCORE gangsta, but the overall song got props and it's still among Coolio's best songs.

I'm sure the old folks liked it. i was like 14-15 when it dropped so there's no way in hell I was bumpin this. I think it was just passable, but it got no love from the streets in Philly.
