I woulda skipped this thread of it weren't for the homie
@stomachlines.
I don't think it's so much the music is bad...it is generally bad...but I don't think the music being bad is the problem.
@stomachlines, I'm assuming you're an early 30's breh like myself.
We've stopped making memories to this music. You didn't lose your virginity to this shyt. You don't remember saving up your lunch money for 2 weeks to cop a new CD. Or trying to sync up a tape to your radio so you can record the whole song at just the right timing. You don't recall meeting randoms at the bar or club bringing them back to the crib. You don't recall getting super high or fukked up to these tunes because you probably have a job you need to be at an 8 am, or rent, or a mortgage, etc etc...
I have too many life stories that circle around late 90's early 2000's music...from, rap to rock to reggae...most I do with this music nowadays is workout to it or drive fast to it.
One could make the argument that the beats and Rhymes are better (from a technical aspect) nowadays when you know where to look for them.
But...nothing really resonates because I'm grown and can't really wild da fukk out like I used to.
