IIRC Apprentice was going off the air or would have been off the air. Trump's star was fading. Yes, he would have been fine business wise and financially but Trump is an egomaniac and he was beginning to be starved for attention. He's a celebrity. He wants to be in the public eye.
This was a publicity stunt from the start. Then he gained some traction. The GOP's field was pretty weak. Trump hates the Bushes so his first order of business now was to fukk with Jeb. Mission accomplished. Now he's seeing his poll numbers continue to rise and rise. Why? He finds out because it's the racist right and the angry white males over 30 and so he needles and needles. He wasn't prepared for the debates. He was just there to add fukkery. Then the ratings are huge. Then candidates begin to fall off. He gains more steam.
At a certain point it gets to a point of no return. He can't lose. He tries to throw the nomination away several times and he can't do it. He keeps winning despite poor debate skills, despites his lack of knowledge.
Trump didn't expect to be here. And frankly, he does not actually want all of the responsibility of being president. I think he'll be relieved to lose and then blame the media. But if he does win, holy fukk, because he's clearly not ready for it. He and his people will try to get Pence to do all the work.

I been saying Trump is all a part of a huge chess game by the Clintons. Bernie was part of it too. The way has been paved. Bernie won't get the office but watch after the election as he bows out of the limelight he gets a payoff of some kind. Whether it be a position in the administration or something.

- Thought Hillary and Bill were great leaders great people
- Didn't believe Clinton's accusers (called them unattractive)
- Supported Iraq-War invasion
- Claimed the economy is ran better under Democrats
- Supported open trade laws
- Was against mass deporting undocumented immigrants
- Sexual predator/Pervert
Current President Candidate Trump:
- Thinks the worse of Bill and Hillary Clinton
- Claims Clinton raped his accusers.
- Against the Iraq War invasion
- Thinks Clinton and Obama ruined economy
- Protectionist
- Supports mass deportation laws

These changes happened in a matter of 4 to 8 years. 3 possible conclusions
1. Trump is an idiot and a sexual deviant
2. Trump is a plant for the Clinton's...and a sexual deviant
3. Trump has an ax to grind with the Clinton's over something personal and trying to get them back...and he's a sexual deviant
