Whenever I'm in a new city or going to a new city, I go on those apartment searching sites and search for apartments. Then I filter the results and sort them by most expensive to least. Whatever areas the most/mid expensive ones are in, is usually the area I stay around.

I went to "untitled" and "sound bar" with my squad, I was with Asian millionaires who made sure I didn't have to ask for anything, I didn't have to wait in lines or anything. I feel like crying right now. Not even trolling, I also met David Robinson while in Indiana, today is easily one of the best days I've had in my entire life outside of the time I spend with bae.

I am in that area frequently and may beer you if you want, pending if my wallet is friendly this weekend.
Then after I get you trashed we shave our legs, go cross dressing and bear hunting in Boys Town.
But really if you're into beer pick up a case of Goose Island mixes. Revolution is also very good for local beer. Plenty of restaurants, one of the best food cities on Earth. Many fun museums and boring tourist attractions to stare at. They are also Fine Female Friendly.
General tourist zone I imagine is downtown is good, North of UIC up to Grand and Halsted is good. After that anything North of Grand, East of Kezdie is pretty much safe on most levels. Granted I do live here and venture out late night a lot so the edges of those boundaries might not be for a tourist but I would say those are greatly acceptable limits.
Sorry south side.
North side just has more of everything in closer proximity.
