Ok if that’s their excuse then why is VCU takin over the entire downtown?

They literally have a plan they developing called VCUOne where VCU takes over the entire block from 1000 Broad all the way to MCV

It's a whole lotta hating ass shyt in here and most of it are from Richmonders who don't realize how good they got it. One thing about Virginia, muhfukkas will shyt on our own harder than anybody from outside. I lived in Nova (Woodbridge/Fairfax), Central VA (Richmond/Tri-Cities), and The Beach...

That "VA is wack" is some hating ass shyt you find from Virginians in all VA metros 🤣 🤣...

Virginia is one of the dopest states period, easy Top 10 shyt, it shyts on Maryland easy, and Richmond is a special, special city. Some of yall ain't really been nowhere and you can tell when yall shyt on VA, I'm bout to set the record straight though...

I'll try to keep this brief because I've already mentioned the following on here in the past. But Virginia is maybe the most historic state in The Union, and if you're BLACK and even somewhat in tune with our history here in the US, Virginia is probably the single most significant state to black history and black culture in America...

Our journey on this stolen land that we didn't ask to be brought to started here. The vast majority of cultural blackness in the US has its roots in Virginia, from how we celebrate (family reunions), to how we worship (Christian denominations), to how we eat (soul food), the list keeps going. This is all facts...

Virginia is fukking hallowed ground and maybe my perception is shaped in part by being a well-traveled transplant, but I'm proud to call myself a Virginian, even if an adopted son. It ain't perfect, but it's a special territory if your blackness is rooted in America---->at least it should be...

Bruh anyone saying Rich hasn't grown since the 80s or 90s is exposing themselves...

Richmond is historically one of the most dangerous sizable cities in the nation, anyone who talks about cities being historical war zones in this country and omit Richmond just ain't in the know. What Baltimore is today is basically what Richmond was until like 2006...

People who think Rich has hot areas now have no idea what it was like 15+ years ago, going back to the 60s. All this shyt I'm saying is easily researchable. You used to be playing with your life to go almost anywhere in Richmond unknown---->somebody said The Ward is garbage today 😆. I know what muhfukkas woulda said if they woulda seen it the way it was when I first seen it in the early 00s...

Richmond's rise from being LITERALLY one of the most violent cities in America to what it is today are a testament to the growth the city has had that some people in here swear it hasn't 😄 🤣 😂...

Man hell nah...

See the problem with Nova is you gotta talk about it as one place because there isn't a single city in Nova fukking with Richmond. As a collective sure, bit then you're comparing a region of 3 million people that's essentially suburban DC, to just one city that's the most unique city in Virginia...

Tidewater is pretty generic to me, I fick with it but the only city that's really popping to me is Virginia Beach. Rich and VB are the two best cities in VA, everybody else comes after, but thats how cats do, compare the whole 7-0 or 7-5 to Richmond because as a CITY Richmond is spanking anyone...

This ain't even hyperbolic, anyone who has traveled when people hear "Virginia", Richmond is the first city people think of, Richmond has the most urban character, Richmond has the most cache...
Yeah....I'd rather live in Richmond than NOVA lol..

Lol I currently live in Richmond (Northside)

And this shyt is horrible.

😂😂😂 best time of your life huh?

Jward dirty asb

Jackson Ward looks way better than it did 15, 20, 40 years ago. The only negative is that with the gentrification a whole bunch of white people have moved in but it's still like 48% black as a neighborhood today, so you can still feel the blackness and black history if you moving thru the blocks...

I used to hang out on Chamberlayne all the time, it's a chicken spot in that gas station by the McDonalds I used to stay hitting up when I was on the North. Richmond definitely ain't "horrible", where are you from?

they will never get a major sports franchise besides maybe soccer. The population isn’t big enough.

Which brings me to the point I was making about it not growing. The city population in 1990 was 219k. Now it’s 226k.

A lot of people prefer that small town vibe.

It ain't that Rich ain't big enough, Richmond has a larger metro populations than Buffalo and New Orleans so comparatively speaking there are smaller cities that have teams...

The problem is Rich is too close to DC, if Rich was maybe an hour more south it would have attracted a team...

And those population numbers don't tell the story. Richmond has had the same fixed city limits since like 1970, can't annex, every city you can think of that has exploded in population over the last 30 years have added land and suburbs to the city to increase their population. Now, what was Metro Richmond's population in '90, and what is it today? That's the real growth...

What was Downtown Rich like in '90 and what is it today? What about Uptown? Manchester?

The Capital of the Confederacy:mjpls:
I did my intership at Philip Morris
I drove through my old spots a few months ago and nothing has really changed since the 90s
Atleast they finally took down all those Confederate statues on Monument Ave.

Richmonders were split at the time of the Civil War on secession, literally 50% of citizens were against it and had Union loyalties. Richmonders didn't choose to join yhe Confederacy or be the capital, it was chosen for them...

All of this is historical fact anybody can find online in a few minutes...

Richmond looks way different than it did in '05, let alone yhe 90s...

Art museum nice too.

I'm an art museum buff and VMFA is one of the greatest art museums I've ever seen, it's the best one in VA by ten miles...

My wife said I'd like Virginia. I grabbed her by her collar and was like "WHO THE fukk YOU BEEN TO VIRGINIA WIT'?:damn:"

She said "I got family there:why:"

I said, "Oh":hubie:

I was still working through some insecurities at that time.

Bro VA is legit...

Richmond is stuck in the 80’s. No development and no desire to develop. It should be on par or close to being on par with Charlotte.

They use to be a minor league affiliate for the Atlanta Braves before they lost it.

No major sports team.

I grew up there. Left when I graduated high school and only go back to visit family.
DC is two hours away. Richmond ain’t getting anything. It will always play second fiddle.

Charlotte has the benefit of being on the border of South Carolina. If Atlanta was closer it would have languished too.

That’s bullshyt. Baltimore is closer to DC than DC is to Richmond. Some cities have multiple teams.

The city simply doesn’t give a shyt. They was fighting against having a casino in Richmond.

Richmond is still boring :mjlol: and it’s stuck in the late 80’s, early 90’s.

Which is cool for nostalgia sake. But I’m good on living there permanently. It’s a pass thru city.

Get a grip, Baltimore is a major port on the eastern seaboard which is exactly why i said Hampton Roads\Virginia Beach has that locked up an hour away.

sports team isn’t the only thing that makes a major city.

A major city has to be able to attract arts, cultural, music.

DC will always have some of best Museums, foods, music events simply because of the kinds of wealth it inhabits,

edit: my other point about Hampton roads wasn’t added in my other post apparently.

This isn’t true at all.

You’re just looking at it through the lens of a native.

I get it, I’m from VA too.

But Richmond has grown a helluva lot over the last 20 years.

Especially since the 80s. :mjlol:

It was hell on Earth back then.
Facts lol

I grew up in a small town in Mississippi with three casinos. Gambling money doesn’t bring the prestige you think it does.

Didn’t love Richmond but enjoyed my time there, had food at a dope as Mexican spot on A strip with other bars and other resturants. University of Richmond campus is amazing one of the best campuses ive ever visited. Don’t see how VCU ever gets anybody to that school boy that area is rough.
