BP, you know good and well I'm not suggesting he have his entire future planned out but he's 17 and talking about he feels Black boys are rushed into adulthood. I believe Black boys should have an idea of what they want to do as a career by the time they reach high school and from there they should focus on moving towards that so by the time they get to college they can hit the ground running or if they decide against college in favor of a trade, they can immediately jump into that.

Too many of us don't know what we want to do after we've graduated high school and as a people, that's simply a luxury we don't have.

He still has time to decide though. It's not "too late." That is being a bit dramatic. No need to scare him. lol

I agree, it's definitely not too late, I didn't get my life in order until I was damn near 30

I just don't want younger brothers to go through any of what I went through when a lot of it is avoidable by simply taking time out to start developing and working towards a plan. I didn't mean to be so dramatic, I apologize OP.

Not yet.
I assume you haven't even finished high school yet. Have you applied to college? Does your school have a collegiate counselor's office where they help you put together college applications and figure out what scholarships you're eligible for?

I’m a bit older and you gradually ease into adulthood.

First you start paying more taxes and go to college

Just soak up as much game as you can from here and observe others

And what about the second question ... have you been to your counselor's office at all this year?

Matter of fact, have you even taken the SAT or ACT?

Do you still know what you want to be when you grow up? :francis:
